Digital Resilience: Security, Identity, and the Future of Business

6. February @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

The digitalisation of business operations brings faster processes and new opportunities—while at the same time increasing cyber risks. Companies and organisations are increasingly facing questions about how to protect data, ensure the secure use of digital services, and meet the requirements of trust, compliance, and business continuity.

This practically oriented seminar provides a clear and accessible overview of key areas of cybersecurity that are often misunderstood or overlooked in practice. Participants will receive concrete answers to questions that directly affect everyday business operations.

What you will learn:

  • how fundamental cryptographic mechanisms work and why they are essential for the security of digital services,

  • what electronic signatures and digital certificates mean in practice and how they are used in business processes,

  • how to correctly understand and apply technologies for securing communications (HTTPS, VPN),

  • how modern identity verification methods (biometrics, Passkeys/FIDO2) improve security and user experience,

  • what impact quantum computers will have on the future of cybersecurity.

The seminar is intended for management, IT managers, information security professionals, and anyone involved in decision-making related to digital technologies, security, and customer trust.

Ideal for companies and organisations that want to understand cybersecurity—and effectively put it into practice.

The seminar will be delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marko Hölbl, Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics at the University of Maribor, and a member of the Laboratory for Data Technologies. His research covers cybersecurity, ranging from cryptography to user-centric aspects of information security and privacy. He has participated in numerous projects, seminars, and workshops, and has been a partner in European, national, and industry projects, as well as projects for the European Space Agency. He is an active member and Secretary General of CEPIS LSI (Council of European Professional Informatics Societies – Legal and Security Issues Special Interest Network), a member of the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO), a member of the Executive Board of the Association for Informatics and Telecommunications, the Cybersecurity Section at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, and the Advisory Working Group on Cryptography.
