Demystifying Internet of Things in Manufacturing: Modern Digital Solutions and Artificial Intelligence

11. November, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Nowadays, in times of constant technological changes and never-ending searches for competitive advantages, it is crucial that companies effectively and comprehensively integrate their industrial processes. The seminar aims to achieve just that – you will learn how the Internet of Things (IoT) and other modern digital solutions supported by artificial intelligence can contribute to optimizing production, improving control, and increasing productivity. We will explore how digitization enables better traceability, greater flexibility, and more accurate and faster decision-making. We are looking forward to your active participation and the exchange of experiences as we explore the challenges of the Slovenian economy through practical examples and discussions.

11 November 2024, 8.00-12.00, online (MS Teams)

Objectives of the seminar:

  • Understanding of basic concepts: participants will gain the basic understanding of the systems that represent the foundation for the operation of IoT in production: SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and their roles and importance in production processes.
  • Integration of systems supported by the IoT: participants will learn how to effectively integrate SCADA, MES, and ERP systems, which enables smooth operation and integration of various production and business functions.

The seminar is meant for general public – IT and production experts, consultants in the field of digital transformation, managers, and everyone who wants to gain knowledge about the latest trends and technologies in the field of digitalization and optimization of production.

About the lecturer:
Dr. Robert Ojsteršek is a lecturer in production technology and systems in Laboratory for production and operations management and Laboratory for discrete system simulation at the Faculty of mechanical engineering of the University of Maribor. He received his doctorate in 2020, his bibliography includes over 170 published works, 20 scientific papers, 12 chapters in scientific journals, and he attended several scientific conferences. He was also a guest researcher and lecturer on four foreign universities. Dr. Ojsteršek led over 15 R&D projects for the industry and is a member of the editing committee for two scientific journals. His research is focused on planning and terminating production, evolutionary calculations, multicriteria optimization, simulation modelling, collaborative workspaces, and visual calculations.
