On Thursday, 12 September 2024, the webinar Personal Data Protection and Artificial Intelligence will take place as part of the demystification seminars on the correlation between GDPR and artificial intelligence.
The seminar will address the importance of personal data protection in today’s digital age, where the use of artificial intelligence is becoming more and more widespread.
In the introductory part, we will present the Slovenian Personal Data Protection Act (ZVOP-2) and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the main details and differences between them. After discussing the rights of individuals with regard to the protection of personal data, the obligations of data controllers and data processors, and the principles of personal data processing, we will focus on how AI uses personal data and give examples of its use in different areas.
We will continue by presenting the challenges and risks related to the processing of personal data in AI systems and thus potential breaches of the ZVOP-2 and the GDPR.
We will discuss the importance of transparency and accountability in the development and implementation of AI systems and provide recommendations for compliance with the ZVOP-2 and the GDPR.
We will also present the role of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and best practices for handling personal data when using AI.
The seminar will be conducted by Associate Prof. Dr. Miha Dvojmoč from the Faculty of Security Sciences, University of Maribor, who is also the Data Protection Officer (DPO) of the University of Maribor.
This event is a great opportunity for anybody who deals with personal data management or wants to learn how to use artificial intelligence in accordance with the current legislation.
