Demystifying High Performance Computing in Tourism

The purpose of this seminar is to explore how High Performance Computing (HPC) can be used in various areas of the tourism industry and in creating a good experience for tourists. The seminar will present an overview of HPC concepts, tools and techniques, with special emphasis on their use in tourism, examples of good practices and existing solutions in this field, and the potential possibilities offered by HPC technology in the future.

- introduction to High Performance Computing (HPC),
- an overview of HPC-related technologies and solutions,
- the use of HPC for planning and forecasting in tourism,
- the use of HPC for marketing and personalization,
- improving the user experience using HPC,
- the use of HPC for sustainable tourism, preservation of cultural heritage and optimal use of resources,
- HPC for data visualization to support decision-making,
- challenges and trends in HPC for tourism,
- examples of good practices in the introduction of HPC in tourism,
- practical aspects for the introduction of HPC into tourism in Slovenia.
The seminar will be conducted by doc. dr. Domen Verber from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Maribor.
