The workshop “Solving Complex Business Situations Using Excel” will be held online on 16th and 17th of January 2025, from 13.00 to 14.30. It is intended for businesses looking to enhance their skills in handling more complex business scenarios using Excel. The main topics include advanced data search, working with pivot tables, and utilizing data analysis add-ins.
In the first part, participants will learn about the VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP functions for searching values and linking data between different tables. They will also learn to structure data, manage code lists, and remove duplicate entries, enabling better organization of business information.
The next part covers pivot tables, which allow for multi-level analysis of large datasets. Participants will learn how to create pivot tables, filter data, use slicers and timelines, and add calculated fields. They will also gain skills in hierarchical data analysis and conditional formatting to visualize results.
The workshop also includes a segment on document protection and sharing, where participants will learn about worksheet and input protection functions, as well as options for tracking changes and collaborating with multiple users.
Practical tasks, such as analyzing sales results and creating reports using pivot tables, ensure that participants can immediately apply the acquired knowledge in their work environment. The workshop features numerous practical exercises simulating real business situations, providing participants with valuable skills for immediate implementation.
The goal is to enhance users’ skills for more efficient work and data analysis in a digital business environment. Participants are expected to already use Excel regularly in their professional roles.
The workshop will be led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Igor Perko from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Maribor. He teaches information systems for managers and introduces students to the use of business intelligence and analytical systems. His professional work includes the development of information systems, enhanced by multimedia and the application of virtual and augmented reality in business environments. His research focuses on the synergy between systems thinking, cybernetics, artificial intelligence, and sustainable strategies.
