Demystifying IoT in Agri-food: Digitalisation as Support for Precision Agriculture

6. October, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The seminar discusses the use of advanced technologies to support modern agriculture. Technologies such as smart sensor systems, agricultural robots, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, data clusters and other innovations are opening the door for the development of agriculture in a more sustainable direction, enabling more environmentally friendly and economically sustainable farming.

Participants will learn about the following key topics:

  • challenges faced by modern agriculture,
  • composition of high-tech solutions to support modern agriculture,
  • the most frequently chosen sensors to support agricultural solutions,
  • presentation of smaller robotic systems, such as FarmBeast robot,
  • presentation of larger agricultural robots, such as Rovitis and Rovitis 4.0 robots,
  • presentation of smart agricultural devices, including a sprayer for precise application of FFS,
  • presentation of opportunities for using digital twins in the agricultural sector,
  • demonstration of new approaches to teaching, with emphasis on the example of the international competition of Polish robots.

Selected high-tech solutions developed at the Department of Biosystem Engineering at the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences will also be presented. This will give you an insight into the latest innovations and the opportunity to explore potential solutions that can improve your farming practices and bring added value to your work.

Seminar will be held by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jurij Rakun from the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences of the University of Maribor.
