Technological focus

Arctur initiated the Tourism 4.0 initiative, putting in front importance of using technologies for creating sustainable development in tourism sector. The aim is to establish a new format of dynamic collaboration system among all tourism stakeholders sprouting a new generation of tourist applications and services, which are built on real tourist needs and wishes by using the key enabling technologies from Industry 4.0 harmonized with the Tourism 4.0 principles.

Arctur has its own HPC and Cloud Computing infrastructure in a distributed, high-redundancy environment. The company has extensive experience in development and deployment of complex IT solutions (AI, ML, Blockchain, HPC, big data …) especially for Small and Media Enterprises (SME) in various sectors: from manufacturing to tourism and cultural heritage.

Infrastructure and equipment

Arctur-2 is Arctur’s flagship hyperconverged HPC & Cloud computing infrastructure. Arctur’s HPC center is one of the most performant privately owned HPC centers in Europe. Its HPC&Cloud computing infrastructure has been designed and built to fit various usage scenarios, from general use Cloud Computing and virtualised services to HPC as well as Big Data analytics. By converging different types of servers into a single entity, we have achieved high performance, energy efficiency and seamless management, enabling us to provide excellent services to our customers.

Actur is based in Slovenia, with reach to wider Europe. We also collaborate with United Arab Emirates.

Researchers, engineers, technology experts, managers and developers are joined under one roof, whose disruptive ideas has been realised in digital tools and solutions for Tourism 4.0 and Industry 4.0. In the last years, Arctur´s experts have been instrumental in helping Slovenia to achieve its ambitious vision and become the leading European country in the digitally rich experience of immovable cultural heritage. Furthermore, Arctur´s employees are highly competitive, thus are involved in several European and national consortia, working on several funded projects from diverse programmes.

Networks and projects

Since 1992 Arctur Ltd. has been acting as an icebreaker in digitalisation of different domains. Today the company employs 50 experts and has considerable experience in collaboration, coordination, quality assurance and internal evaluation of transversal activities within EU R&D projects. In the past 15 years, Arctur has been contributing to numerous FP7, H2020, CEF (Cinea), Interreg, Erasmus+, EMFF and national projects. These collaborations lead to many affiliations. Arctur is the initiator of Tourism 4.0, which transfers key enabling technologies from Industry 4.0, e.g. Internet of Things, Big Data, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, VR and Augmented Reality and makes them accessible to local inhabitants, local authority, tourists, service providers and government to enable a co-creation approach to enriched tourism experience in both, the physical and the digital reality. At least 30 % of company resources are yearly spent in R&D.
