Digital Technologies Workshop: Why Do We Need AI Regulation in Practice?
At the workshop, which we are organizing for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, we will provide a systematic and accessible introduction to what artificial intelligence is, how it works, and why it is important to distinguish between traditional predictive models and generative AI.
A special focus will be placed on what responsible and well-considered use of AI means in practice, and how companies can implement AI technologies in ways that deliver real value while reducing risks.
Participants will gain an overview of the key requirements and opportunities introduced by the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) — including risk management, accountability, documentation, and the crucial role of high-quality data and process traceability.
Through examples of good practices and real cases of the most common mistakes in developing and deploying AI systems, participants will gain concrete insights into:
• which approaches and solutions work effectively in practice,
• where organizations most often encounter challenges,
• how to avoid these issues with proper methodologies, and
• how to prepare in time for the new legal obligations that will affect the entire value chain.
This event is an excellent opportunity for companies wishing to understand not only the regulatory framework but also the practical steps needed to ensure that the use of artificial intelligence is safe, compliant, and beneficial in the long term.
The workshop will be led by Maja Škrjanc from the Jožef Stefan Institute through the CRP NOSI-AI project (National Framework for the Standardisation and Implementation of AI), in co-organization with the Chamber of the Central Slovenia Region.
