On Wednesday, 6 November 2024, a training seminar on Demystifying blockchain technology was held. The keynote speaker was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhamed Turkanović, the founder and head of Blockchain Lab:UM within the Institute of Informatics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FERI) of the University of Maribor.

He presented the basic concepts of the blockchain technology, introduced supporting frameworks, tools, and techniques. In the introduction, Dr. Turkanović focused on encryption with symetrical and asymetrical cryptographic algorithms. Furthermore, he presented blockchain as a technology that drives cryptocurrencies, and can also be used for many other things, e.g. smart conctracts, The lecturer also explained the difference between centralized, decentralized and distributed networks. The presentation included many examples and good practices of using blockchain technology as a business support tool.
